Inpatient Rehabilitation is best described as the bridge between acute care (the initial part of your hospitalization) and a long-term living situation (either home or a care facility).
Successful rehabilitation starts with patient willingness to give their best efforts and attention to all therapeutic activities. A positive attitude plays a very important role in patient progress, as does the comprehensive rehabilitative therapy received.
Rehabilitation helps to restore patients with a disabling condition to a functional level, both physically and mentally, through intensive, individualized daily therapy with nursing care around the clock. Often, a traumatic accident or illness results in disabling conditions such as spinal cord injury, head injury, amputation, stroke, or muscular or neurological disorder. These conditions necessitate a period of acute care, followed by therapeutic care in the form of comprehensive rehabilitation.
The goal of our inpatient rehabilitation is to help every patient achieve the highest level of functional independence possible.
Our therapy program encompasses the combination of physical therapy, occupational therapy, and/or speech therapy. The Rehabilitation Team is a staff of highly trained professionals who evaluate each patient during the first few days. Patient participation in these evaluations establishes an assessment of needs; an individualized treatment program to meet these needs is then designed, using both this assessment data along with medical history provided by the physicians.
